NEHS National Pet Month Photo Contest Winners

(Left to Right): Anshika Gaur's dog "em-bark-ing" on a literature journey; MacKenzie Brunton's snake Tiger Lily posing with Nic Bishop's Snakes; Brady Combs' dog Hazel as Harper Lee, author of the classic, To Kill a Mockingbird.

May marked National Pet Month in the USA and the ELA Honor Society has been celebrating our furry (and scaly) friends through a Pet Photo Contest. Our two submissions categories were Best Literary Pose and Best Literary Look-a-like.

Our winners of the competition, who each received a check for $25 are:

Best Literary Pose
Anshika Gaur, McIntosh High School (GA)

Best Literary Pose
MacKenzie Brunton, Sun Valley High School (NC)

Best Look-alike
Brady Combs, Newsome High School (FL)

Thank you to everyone who submitted photos of their pets—we had a wonderful time judging them and were blown away by student members’ creativity and thoughtfulness.

Look out for more photo and social media contests in Fall 2024!
