Lindsey Ward is currently in her 15th year teaching at a large suburban high school in Texas, her 14th year as the Lead Advisor of her campus NEHS chapter, and her 5th year as a member of the NEHS Advisory Council. A graduate of Sam Houston State University (BA) and The University of Houston (MA), she primarily teaches British and World literature to seniors, but has also taught the Bible Literacy, Humanities, Practical Writing and College Readiness electives at her school. She is an avid collector of dragons and her classroom is festooned with memorabilia ranging from Doctor Who to Serenity.
- I chose to become an English Major because: Initially, I majored in communications and earned my BFA in RTV production with a focus on writing. Then, I discovered a love for teaching and earned my MA in GT Curriculum writing and certification to teach 8-12th grade English.
- My favorite part of being an English Major is immersing myself in literature and then having hearty debates with equally invested readers.
- The last book I read was Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky (selected as part of a reading challenge).
- My favorite book is anything connected to Arthurian Legend.
- A book character I identify with is Nynaeve al’Meara The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.
- The last book I bought was The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro but I have not yet read it.

- The best gift I’ve ever given is: I gave my brother a David Hasselhoff CD as a joke over 10 years ago and it started the tradition of family members “hassling” each other with similar gifts.
