The Advisory Council is currently seeking recommendations for the Common Reader for next year; the text selected becomes the basis for the Merit Scholarship competition and also serves as a potential community read for chapters. The recommendations should meet the following criteria:
- challenging to academic NEHS students yet appropriate for a teen audience;
- of manageable length;
- published within the last twenty years and not taught widely in English classes; and
- available in various formats and priced affordably.
Please submit suggested titles and authors no later than February 3, 2020. In early February, all Advisors will receive a survey asking for a ranking of those titles under consideration to guide the decision of the Advisory Council. The Common Reader will be announced in early April.
