We are so thankful for the response so far to our call for NEHS Chapter Advisors to be readers for the scholarship evaluation process. Thank you if you have sent in a note volunteering. However, with the growth of NEHS, we now require a larger pool of readers for scholarship essay submissions. Each year the number of applicants increases, which is wonderful. However, the process of evaluating the essays, which are read three times through a blind scoring process, now requires support beyond the members of the Advisory Council and the few additional NEHS Advisors who have helped in the past few years.
We are looking for 20-25 educators to assess no more than 30 scholarship essays based on one of the Common Readers between January 25 and February 25, 2019. Essays are distributed electronically to selected readers and require no written comments; readers apply a rubric to each essay and score a few additional questions to which the applicants have responded. Advisors should send a note of interest to Dave Wendelin by December 21, 2018. Thank you!
